Fortunately not only are bearded dragon lizards easy to care for in captivity, but if you buy a captive bred specimen
and give it regular health checks you are very unlikely to come across sick bearded dragon lizards.
The first golden rule I suppose is that when you're looking for bearded dragons to buy never buy anything that looks even 1% off color -
never buy anything that looks like it might be a sick bearded dragon lizard.
If you follow my advice here, and buy yourself a good bearded dragon book for offline reading, you're unlikely to ever have a sick lizard.
However, in that inlikely circumstance if you do find that you have a sick bearded dragon lizard what should you do?
There are two things you should do.
The first of these is to give him a thorough health check so you can jot down what the symptoms are (if any) to help you and your vet to diagnose
the problem.
Then get in contact with your vets. There is only one real health issue you can deal with yourself safely and that is
bearded dragons and
dehydration.
Apart from this, which we will cover later, you should take all sick bearded dragon lizards straight to the vet who is qualified to deal with such problems.
