Many petshops try to sell everything under the sun - parrots, hamsters, fish, reptiles, rabbits and so on.

You should ideally be looking for either a specialist reptile store, or a general store where there is someone knowledgeable specifically in charge of taking care of the reptiles and ensuring you get the correct advice.

If you choose the right one you'll find dozens of stalls all laid out with hundreds of reptiles, amphibians, spiders and more for your perusal.

Prices are generally very good, there's a great atmosphere around and there can be some really exciting finds.

On the other hand, you have no idea what is going to be available, and if you get there late you miss out on most of the fun.
